What is UniPass Card System?

The UniPass card system is owned by the University of Debrecen. The university card serves as proof of the holder’s affiliation with the University of Debrecen. Its purpose is to verify the holder’s identity on campus and to provide access to services that the cardholder has requested and received from service providers within the university. Outside the university campus, the card ensures that its holder can access certain services at a discounted rate. In the UniPass card system, previous university cards will remain valid until their expiration dates.


How can I apply for a card?

In accordance with the regulations, any member of the university community—that is, an active employee or student—may apply for a university card. Applications are accepted year-round, and cards are produced on a two-week schedule. Applying for a UniPass card is very simple: just log in to our website with your network ID and password, upload a photo for your ID, and click on the “LOG IN” menu item. FOR FIRST-YEAR STUDENTS:

If you were unable to apply for your UniPass card by the specified deadline, or if your application was rejected due to a poor-quality ID photo, you can still apply for a card. IMPORTANT: Cards ordered after the application deadline can be picked up by all students at the HAK offices corresponding to their campus, as described in the confirmation email, following the instructions on the "APPLICATION/RECEIVING MY CARD" tab. How long is it valid?

In accordance with the general rules governing the use of the card, the UniPass card is valid for a fixed period of 5 years from the date of issuance. During this period, the services associated with the university card are tied to the student’s status as a university student.


How much does the card cost?

As a member of the University of Debrecen community—whether you’re a staff member or a student—everyone is eligible to apply for a UniPass card. The university card is FREE the first time! According to the general rules for using the card, the UniPass card is the property of the University of Debrecen. If the card is lost, damaged, or destroyed, a replacement fee of 6,000 HUF must be paid.


What are the most important functions of the university card?

  • Verification of identity within the institution.
  • Facility access for authorized individuals in buildings and dormitories equipped with an access control system.
  • Library card for members registered with the University and National Library of the University of Debrecen (DEENK) and its organizational units. DEENK services requiring library registration are available exclusively with a UniPass card.
  • Owners of vehicles who have purchased an annual pass may enter the university campuses using the license plate recognition system or their UniPass card, in accordance with the university’s Vehicle Access and Parking Regulations.
  • By paying the Lifestyle Development Club membership fee, members can take advantage of certain services at a significant discount. UniFit and DEAC passes are stored electronically on the card, so they can also be used as access cards at both locations.   • The card can also be used as a means of payment at university cafeterias, snack bars, clubs, events organized by Debreceni Campus Nonprofit Közhasznú Kft., the Nagyerdei Water Tower, and the Campus Festival.

  • The UniBike University Bike-Sharing System, operated by the University of Debrecen, is available to all university students with a valid student ID card. More information about renting bikes can be found on the UniBike website.
  • With a UniPass card, admission to the University Botanical Garden is free for everyone, and university students who hold the card can also visit the AGORA Science Center at a discounted rate.
